俱乐部从未透露过转会分成条款的具体金额，但据了解数额相当大。意大利转会专家法布里济奥·罗马诺称，曼联可以得到转会费的一半！「曼联卖掉格林伍德时已经收到一笔钱，大约2500万欧元。但通过50%的二次转会分成条款，俱乐部希望得到更多！」罗马诺说，「如果未来青木被出售，曼联可以分到一半转会费，相当于他们控制了球员50%的所有权。如果马赛决定出售，曼联获得的利润更大。」
罗马诺称，今夏就有俱乐部想要引进格林伍德，但被马赛拒绝。「夏窗就有一些俱乐部准备为格林伍德支付高价，但马赛俱乐部拒绝了，他们说：『不，他会留下，他太重要了不能卖。』这是俱乐部主席巴勃罗·隆戈里亚、总监迈赫迪·贝纳蒂亚以及主教练罗伯托·德泽尔比共同做出的决定，他们都展现出了雄心壮志，并将格林伍德视为球队的关键球员。」
近期，传闻英超的热刺和西汉姆联对格林伍德感兴趣，甚至有传曼联也希望将他回购。然而，考虑青木在英国的争议性，他很难重返英格兰踢球，再赴西甲的概率更高，又或者加盟法甲霸主巴黎圣日耳曼。
不过，曼联的高昂转会分成条款，可能影响马赛的卖人，他们会索取更高价格，否则不同意出售，因为分掉50%的转会费后，法甲俱乐部自己能获得的利润就不大了。
假设青木8000万欧元转会，红魔拿走4000万欧元，剔除2500万欧元的引进成本，马赛的利益只有1500万欧元……所以，他们不大愿意卖，宁可留着自己用。
曼联方面当然有着截然相反的看法，吉姆·拉特克里夫爵士的英力士管理团队希望格林伍德和拉什福德的转会能够大大改善俱乐部的财报，他们都是青训球员，所有转会收入都是纯利润。
与之对比，虽然那不勒斯预计肯定会为霍伊伦德支付4500万欧元的买断费用，但曼联签下他时花费了8000万欧元，这笔交易还是亏本的。「霍伊伦德不再感觉自己是曼联出租的球员，他觉得自己已经100%是那不勒斯球员，俱乐部完全打算买断他。」罗马诺说。
罗马诺表示：「如果格林伍德将来离开，曼联将拥有50%的二次转会分成条款，所以会有更多资金流入，这对于遵守财政公平竞赛规则以及曼联未来的引援，可能都至关重要。」
